My Family

I’m Matt and I am married to Carrie Reece and we are the parents of Cory, Brayden, Samantha and Jackson.  If you hang out with me long enough you will know that I am passionate about my family and ministry.  Below you can read about my family.  As far as ministry is concerned I am about as simple as one can be.  I am consumed with helping people who are far from God.  Having lived a majority of my life outside of the church (and actually hating the church) I can relate to those who struggle with the church.  I was almost 30 years old when I became a follower of Jesus.  Since then, my commitment has been to find a way to connect to those who are far from God and lead them back to him.  There are honestly enough churches in Wayne County and Richmond.  I don’t want to create just another church because there are some really good ones already.  We are launching a church for people who don’t do church.  It is an interesting concept and challenging.  Why would anyone who doesn’t already go to church want to start going now?  That is the question I have given my past 10 years to answering.  The result is this new church we are starting.  Do we have all of the answers, probably not, but honestly I would rather die trying than set back and do nothing.  So let’s do this.  Enough about me.  Keep reading to hear about my awesome family.

I honestly think that I have the coolest family in the world.

Carrie and I have been married 14 years.  We have fun.  Seriously, we have fun.  Life is not boring in our family.  Carrie has the biggest laugh I know.  What makes it big is that she has different phases to her it.  It will start as a small giggle, which amuses her.  The giggle turns into to laughter, which turns to big belly laughter, which makers her tear up, which turns to more, deeper laughter which…you get the picture…she laughs loudly. (Run on sentence I know, but this information is not meant to impress you with my grammar skills.)  Carrie is committed to our family and to ministry.  She has given birth to 4 kids; Cory, Brayden, Samantha and Jackson.  She has also been involved in children’s ministry for several years  and has helped kids across the country come to know God.

Cory is 19.  Do I need to say anything else? I could go on about his mischievous childhood, but he is all grown up now.  Cory is a student at Roger State University and is studying “criminology”.  (insert joke about his mischievous childhood here)  Anyway, Cory models the family value of fun and has committed his life to having fun.  Cory is single, likes long jogs in the morning and enjoys chinese food.

Brayden is 13.  He plays baseball, football, basketball and golf.  He loves sports, but is also a National Honor Society student.  He wants to go to Duke University and play basketball there.  Like any 13 year old he also loves video games.  Brayden is a good young man who makes mom and dad proud.

Samantha is 10.  She is our little diva.  She loves to dance and sing.  Samantha wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up.  Mom and I have yet to decide if we are going to allow her to grow up.  We love our little girl.  She is also a good student. Recently, she received the hightest honor one an receive at her school, the Principle’s Award.   Like her brother Cory, Samantha is a social butterfly who makes friends quickly.  She has a big heart.

Jackson is 4.  Oh my goodness he is wild.  Jackson is the mascot for our family.  He will have fun at all cost.  He is known to stop in the middle of a store and break into an interpretive dance for all to see.  He honestly doesn’t mind the attention.  Jackson loves everyone. Seriously, he once invited a stranger at the airport to our home for a cookout.  He is hilarious.  Jackson keep us all young and laughing.  My guess, he will be a stand up comic or actor when he grows up.
